Summer Jackson is a multi-talented Television Journalist, Lifestyle Expert, Professor and Media Expert, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Summer hosts the 460 Segment on WSB-TV (The ABC Affiliate in Atlanta). In addition to her busy television career, Summer teaches communications as an Adjunct Professor at Clark Atlanta University. Summer is frequently requested to host training and development workshops at Georgia State University and she emcees events nationwide. Prior to the show ending earlier this year, Summer was a regular fill-in Co-Host and Correspondent on TV One’s “Sister Circle” and Lifestyle Expert for the ‘Sister Circle Savings’ Shopping Segment. After the show, you could often find Summer jumping sets to join the Show “Atlanta & Company,” (NBC Atlanta) as a regular On-Air Contributor for the Real Talk Segment. Additionally, Summer has been a freelance On-Air Correspondent and Producer for “The Daily Buzz,” on POP-TV (formerly the TV Guide Channel). Summer has also hosted Models of Atlanta (CBS Atlanta) and Models of Nashville (FOX Nashville). Summer’s career spans news and entertainment, as a Reporter/Producer/Host/Anchor, at various television network affiliates across the country—including stations in Danville, Illinois (NBC-WICD); Baton Rouge (ABC-WBRZ) and New Orleans (FOX-WVUE), Louisiana; Atlanta, Georgia (ABC-WSB); and Chicago, Illinois (CLTV/WCIU-TV). Throughout her career, she has covered breaking news and big stories, such as, Hurricane Katrina, the ending of the longest running school desegregation case in the country, the Baton Rouge Serial Killer and the Inauguration of Louisiana’s first female Governor. Also, she has interviewed a host of political leaders, fashion/beauty experts, restauranteurs, and celebrities--Angela Bassett, Sanaa Lathan, T.I., Judge Mathis, Andy Cohen, Tyler Perry, Dylan Lauren, and even, the Queen of Talk, Oprah Winfrey! In addition to her broadcasting career, Summer enjoys teaching others the Art of Communication. She develops and presents training and development workshops for Georgia State University’s Career Services Department. She has also created and hosted an annual interactive Red Carpet Hosting Workshop for the Atlanta based organization, Black Women Film Network. Summer has also worked as an Adjunct College Instructor for the City Colleges of Chicago and as a Graduate Teaching Instructor at Howard University, in Washington, DC. Summer is also a talented actress and model. In 2014, she won a modeling competition with Art Van Furniture Company, in Chicago. She was featured in their television ad and catalog, which were photographed by International Fashion Photographer/Television Host of “America’s Next Top Model” fame, Nigel Barker. Summer has also landed acting roles in, Tyler Perry’s Madea Boo 2, CW’s The Vampire Diaries, ABC’s (pilot) Runner and ABC Family’s Pop Rocks. Summer holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana and a Master of Arts Degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies from Howard University, in Washington, D.C. When she is not working Summer enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
